Samsung has six business lines including
- Digital media business
This business line includes the very successful TV-set business but also DVD-players, printers and mp3-players
- Telecommunication network business
The telecommunication division includes mobile phone devices (in 2006 118 million mobile phones were sold by Samsung, which makes it number three world wide). Further products include telecom network devices as servers and routers for IP telephony and mobile telephony (WiMAX) and other telecom equipment.
- Digital appliance business
This includes refrigerators, air conditioning, washing machines, micro waves etc.
- Semiconductor business
The semiconductor business includes RAM-modules for different usages including DRAM, SRAM, flash memory and LCD driver IC.
- LCD business
Samsung is the leading provider of LCD monitors, they provide the full range of LCD panel sizes, including LCDs for notebook PCs, LCDs monitors, LCD TVs, large LCD panels for other usage as well as small LCDs for mobile devices.
- Corporate technology operations(CTO)
The Corporate Technology Operations is responsible for the strategy of the technological future of Samsung Electronics. It leads the R&D activities at the corporate level including the mid-/long-term R&D direction and strategies for overall operations, the optimization of process and systems to enhance R&D efficiency company-wide and the developing shared technologies related to software and production.
