As the the name of this industry suggests, most drug stores are in the business of selling both over the counter and prescription drugs to their customers. That said, while picking up a bottle of cold medicine or filling a doctor's prescription may provide the impetus for customers to visit the drug store, many drug stores actually depend on front end sales, sales of other non-drug related goods such as chips, candy or even socks, for much of their revenue.
